Raggedy Andy Study

Here is the Raggedy Andy Notebook to go with the Raggedy Ann ones I shared with you a while back! Raggedy Andy is the friend of Raggedy Ann and they are excited to be reunited after over 50 years! SO yes, you will read a lot about Raggedy Ann in the Andy stories as well. Both sets of stories were created by author Johnny Gruelle. This book is another one that I consider a classic. You can download the book FREE from Gutenberg.

When wanting to study this book with Hannah (7), once again I could not find exactly what I was looking for so created my own. It has been tested and is now available for you πŸ™‚ Each chapter has a corresponding narration page, questions page and a copy work page. Several coloring pages are also included. This time around I included the answers for the Question and Answer page at the end of the packet so it is all in one download πŸ™‚

Hannah really enjoyed studying both books and you will often see her looking back over them. I put both the book and all her work in one folder so that she can keep it and easily reference it when she wants to. Narration skills I have been reading how important (and lacking in mainstream education today) narration skills are i.e. the ability to be able to tell back a story just read. When Hannah started this she was absolutely hopeless! However it only took her about about two stories to get the idea that she had to really listen in order to be able to tell the story back. A good and essential training for a child that finds it hard to sit still and concentrate.

Depending on your child’s abilities, this curriculum could be used for the older child. Instead of narrating to you and you writing it down, he/sheΒ  could rewrite the story themselves.

Hope you enjoy,

FREE from Education Possible:

Compass

Even if your child is not yet old enough I highly recommend downloading these FREE instructions and saving them for later. Learning to use a compass is a very important skill and if your older child can learn to make one and really see how it works, that is a great educational plus.

Quality Easter Worksheets and more

I have to admit that we are not really “into” the Easter Bunny here! Yes, we all enjoy some chocolate eggs on Easter Sunday morning but our main focus for this season is the true reason for Easter – the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Finding quality worksheets in this secular age can be difficult and so I was excited to find a whole list of resources over at Mama’s Learning Center. AND for those of you who want Easter Bunny printables she has a whole load of links for you at the bottom of the same page πŸ™‚

Wishing you a blessed Easter,

Homeschool Bits 10 cent Lapbook Sale

I was going to label this post Spring Madness because we have been SO busy! I don’t want to bore you so if interested you can read all about it on our family blog! Needless to say, schooling this last week has been pretty non-existent and I have not had much time at my computer. I have been receiving emails about this sale over on CurrClick for quite a while but just deleting it as I really did not have the time to investigate. When I received it again today I thought it was time to check it out.

Homeshool Bits lapbooks are basic and quick, not in depth like some of the others out there BUT there is also a HUGE price difference. I have purchased several from them in the past and been very pleased with them. They teach what needs to be taught without the frills! At normal prices they are a great deal but at only 10c a lapbook right now they are an absolute bargain! That means you can get 10 lapbooks for a dollar! Wow! I have stocked up and now have the task this evening of downloading over 150 items and saving them in the right categories πŸ™‚

That brings me to another subject – saving your worksheets, lapbooks etc. I am a naturally organized person and it makes me mad/frustrated if I cannot find something. SO I have created a Homeschool folder and under that are all the different subjects in sub-folders. Under each sub-folder, take for example Geography, there will then be more sub-folders for ‘Continents’, ‘Countries’ etc. It keeps going πŸ™‚ Under ‘Countries’ for example, I have a sub-folder for each country that I have info on thus far. Being organized like this means that when I want to study a certain country I do not have to troll through endless titles of all the other countries. I just head to the country that I am looking for and there is everything I need. I hope this little titbit of info helps you in your homeschooling.

Liz

P.S. They are saying the sale will end at midnight April 13th so don’t hesitate to go investigate!
